Faculty of Finance and Banking

The Faculty of Finance - Banking was officially established on September 15, 2009 under Decision No. 904/TĐT-TCHC dated September 4, 2009 of the Rector of Ton Duc Thang University.

In the past 10 years, the Faculty of Science and Technology has developed dramatically in both quantity and quality, the Faculty's teaching, training and scientific research activities have reached new heights.

1) The number of students of the Faculty has increased steadily over the years and there are more than 1700 students and graduate students (Vietnam and international) studying at all levels and training systems from colleges, regular universities, transfer (college to universities); high quality; master's degree in Finance and Banking... In which, there are many advanced training programs according to international standards such as 3+1 joint university training program with Saxion University of Technology (Netherlands) and Lunghwa University (Taiwan); 1+1 joint master's program with Tomas Bata University (Czech Republic)...

2) The Faculty's organic lecturers and staff are continuously strengthened, consolidated and received new from many sources with high quality, including many overseas trained lecturers and foreign lecturers (accounting for 60%). The number of lecturers with PhD and PhD students in the Faculty reached over 90%.

3) The training and training management activities of the Faculty have been carried out methodically and continuously over the years. Strict quality supervision system, credit training class groups are uniformly managed in terms of quality, theoretical teaching activities at the University and professional training, career orientation, internships and internships at enterprises are carried out professionally and scientifically and well meet the requirements of society to ensure that students who graduate from the University meet the requirements of enterprises and the operation practices of financial institutions. The number of students who have jobs immediately after Graduation in the first year is over 98%. The number of students of the Faculty is accepted by banks and financial institutions into practical training programs and accounts for a high proportion of the total number of students of economic schools in Ho Chi Minh City.

4) Scientific research activities are strengthened and have breakthrough developments: From the fact that only a few works have been published annually, so far, Faculty teachers have published more than 30 research works at prestigious international conferences, domestic and international specialized journals (including articles published in journals of ISI and Scopus). In particular, the Faculty has established a Quantitative Finance Research Group with the participation of Taiwanese colleagues with the goal of publishing 07 ISI articles/year.

5) Student achievements and assessment of enterprises: Faculty students participate in a potential internship program implemented by reputable commercial banks more and more and account for a high proportion compared to economic universities in Ho Chi Minh City. Most of the students of the Faculty after graduation became good experts and traders and won titles such as Excellent Customer Relations Specialist, Best seller of Sacombank, ACB, HD Bank, ANZ, Citi Bank. So far, 98% of graduates have jobs at banks and other financial institutions.

6) International cooperation and domestic cooperation: After 10 years of operation, the Faculty has built close and sustainable international cooperation and business cooperation.

Saxion University of Science and Technology (Netherlands) and Lunghwa University have become two friendly partners, working closely with the Faculty in implementing the 3+1 international joint training program. The number of students studying this program from 30 students/year has increased to about 80 students/year.

Corvinus University (Hungary) and Tomas Bata University (Czech Republic) always stand with the Faculty in coordinating the organization of the annual International Economic and Financial Conference (ICFE) with the auspices of Society & Economy Magazine (Scopus) and the prestigious Thomson Reuters database.

Tomas Bata University is also a friendly partner to receive and sponsor scholarships for Faculty teachers to study the NCS program in finance and implement a joint doctoral training program from the 2015-2016 school year.

Fengchia University (Taiwan) in addition to supporting scholarships for NCS science teachers, also actively cooperates in establishing a Quantitative Finance Research Group to improve the Faculty's international research and publication capacity.

7) Vision and prospects of the Faculty: With the initial achievements achieved through 10 years of operation, with the efforts of the Faculty's staff, the Faculty of Science and Technology always steps along with the general development of Ton Duc Thang University, aiming to become the leading research university in the region and be in the Top 60 best universities in Asia by 2037.

Educational philosophy of the Faculty of Science and Technology:

"Solid Knowledge - Sustainable Career"

With the goal of educating learners to become a high-quality workforce, capable of working in an environment under high domestic and international work pressure. The pursuit of educational philosophy is the basis for achieving the goals of education.

The philosophy is explained as follows:

Solid Knowledge: Is the set of knowledge that learners have gone through the learning process in the training program and achieved results that meet all the evaluation criteria designed in the program. The financial and banking training program requires learners to meet the expected output standards including general knowledge, general skills, specialized knowledge, specialized skills and consciousness and attitude. When learners have gone through the learning process and satisfied the evaluation criteria of each subject in the program at a level or higher, they have gained knowledge at the basic level, focus and meet the work needs corresponding to the knowledge trained. After going to work, learners must constantly study by self-study or register at higher levels to ensure that knowledge is always updated to meet the needs of work that requires higher thinking.

Sustainable Career: Learners must gain knowledge in a solid way to have the opportunity to take on high-pressure job positions and especially integrate well into the international environment. With trained knowledge, accompanied by self-study, self-study and participating in courses to improve professional knowledge will help learners always meet the needs of high promotion and sustainability at work.
